For the past three years, I've missed school for this one major event, National Signing Day. National Signing Day is the biggest day for the ultimate college fan. It is the day you get to see potential stars that will impact your team and drive them to bowl games and the national championship.
Everyone knows that I'm the biggest Crimson Tide Fan. So I was rooting for Nick to grab the elite. Can we all just say excellent job.
Losing graduates, John Parker Wilson, Drew Davis, and Rashad Johnson, all were outstanding players and were beneficial to the team.
Saban stepped up and grabbed the best.
1. Trent Richardson, Running Back, scared the shit out of me. Yesterday, when it came close to time to sign, he was talking about not knowing yet. To myself I was thinking, if this guy chooses Florida ot LSU, I quit watching football period!
Cignetti and Burns must have pulled him and said some wonderful things. I'm glad he's apart of the Crimson Family.
2. Dre Kirkpatrick, Defensive Back, has swagger, but I think the wrong swagger, because he put on an Atlanta Braves hat. It was nice to watch, but donged on me afterward. Excellent player, great addition to the Crimson defense. He's ranked #1 in the position. Excellent recruiting by Williams. He has an excellent vertical, which allows him to get those interceptions. Excellent job.
3. D.J. Fluker, Offensive Tackle, stands 6ft 7in, weighs 350, and runs the 40m in 4.9 seconds. He's going to do do an excellent job, opening routes for Jones and Trent, to rush yards. With that much power, he's going to do an excellent job stoping and blocking and clearing way. GREAT addition to the offense and EXCELLENT job Pendry for recruiting him and making sure he didn't run to Flordia.
4. Nico Johnson, Linebacker, 5 star player, what else is there to say about him. Some say he lacks consistancy, but I think when he's introduced to the college level football and working with Willis will only benefit him. He's an excellent on both offense and defense, which shows that he's versitle and will excell in anywhere you place him.
5. Kenny Bell, Wide Reciever, has the speed to be a productive and dominate player. Now with a Quaterback unknown to me, I'm ready to see the chemsitry between the players.
Somemore notable players that didn't chose the Crimson path, but I think are star players, not only just by stars and such, but by what they've displayed and what I've viewed in tapes.
1. Nu' Keese Richardson, University of Tennessee, Wide Reciever, deciding between Flordia and Tennessee, he went with the mighty orange and white. Runnig a 4.4 in the 40m, means that he can get to his position quickly and run the ball. With speed like that, I'm thinking returning also. He has a vertical that will allow him to extent for the ball as long as it's in the radius. Excellent job Kiffin and staff and welcome to Vol Nation!
2. Jelani Jenkins, Florida, Outside Linebacker, tremendous football player. Why Florida, I really don't know. I guess it just gives me even more reason to hate the Gators. He's a runner a defender. Makes plays, makes run. He's a good look for Florida, when Florida looses everyone, but I think they'll give him chance, they have to because he chose a stack team over USC and I know they offered him playing time!
3. Isaac Holmes, Rutgers, Defensive tackle, an excellent addition to the Rutgers defense. He's quick for a big guy, but can get in locate the ball, and make the tackle.
4. Matt Barkley, USC, Quaterback, a much needed player for the Trojans. The man is so excellent, that he's already enrolled at USC, so he can start practicing in the spring. Can we say determination and dedication. He's going to add to much to the Trojans, excellent arm and is just what the doctor ordered for the Trojans.
5. Terry Hawthorne, Illinois, Wide Reciever, excellent player. Quick on his feet, great hands, great agility. Just a good overall player. I think the adjustment for him is going to be hard, because he lacks consistency. I think with coaching, he'll be great. He changed direction fast to fool the defender and that's a major plus for him.
6. Brendan Cross, Wake Forest, Quarterback, great potential to be a starter in a year or so. A dual player, great runner and great arm. He's very accurate and he's the player you're glad to get young, so that you mold him into THAT quaterback.
